Appearance: Karista is a striking girl, and knows it. At 5'10 with curves in all the right places she has had boys following her around most of her adult life. Her red-gold hair hanging in a curtain down her back also adds to her appeal. Green eyes look down at those not as pretty or intelligent and her rosebud mouth is most often seen in a small, wry smile. Although she is tanned a light honey colour that is often admired, she has a spattering of freckles across her nose which she *hates* and a birthmark in the form of a patch of pale skin on her right hip. She's never shown it to anyone though.
Personality: Karista is used to being the centre of attention, and this has cultivated a certain degree of vanity in the teenager. She has never wanted for an admiring throng of young men, and has a tendency to play the doe-eyed, sweet princess. This however, is not the real Karista. She is jealous and manipulative when it comes to getting what she wants, if another girl is getting attention Karista will find some way to shift that attention back to herself. She often uses her looks to get men to do her bidding, but is clever enough that they never know when they're being used. Often two-faced this 17 year old has never been in a situation where she hasn't been top-dog, and being a Candidate at Fort Weyr will either put her in her place, or make her worse.
Birth Place: Small Holding near Telgar Hold
Parents: Holders Hirtek and Joya who preside over the holding.
History: As the beautiful, green-eyed daughter of a Holders Karista wanted for nothing as a young girl. She is accustomed to being waited on, and does not particularly empathise with the staff. Almost always among an admiring throng of young men it is not surprising that Karista has no real female friends. Those that do think they have made friends with her usually find themselves running errands or delivering messages.
Always told that she would be an important personage in the future, marry another lord and one day have her own Hold to run Karista was not looking to become a resident at a weyr - any weyr. But when some passing Fort riders stopped to exchange pleasantries with Hirtek, Karista caught the eye of the bronze dragon and his rider.
She was not particularly keen on the idea at the beginning - especially when she heard she would be required to sleep in *dorms* ugh, with other people *oh no, no*, but when the bronzerider suggested that she was an ideal candidate for a queen dragon her tune swiftly changed.
Arriving at Fort Weyr she is getting to grips with life here. Not wanting to reveal her personality until she has scoped out the competition she is playing it nice - for now. She has decided in her own mind that nothing but a gold dragon will do for her, and if there is no golden egg on the sands she won't stand.
Always looking out for ways to secure her own social standing she would like to meet an unsuspecting bronzerider and perhaps use him to gain some power among other candidates - not that she'd let him know that of course!
